Lone Elk County Park
1 Lone Elk Park Rd
Ballwin, MO 63088
Lone Elk County Park is one St. Louis’ true gems. There is a herd of elk and a herd of bison. The park has lots of hiking and picnic areas, and a wonderful driving trail that takes you through the buffalo area and through elk hollow.
The lake can be fished by reservation.
NOTE: Be careful if you’re going to play on the trees, as some of them have a parasite that manifests itself as in a 1-3 inch needle sharp thorns.
Also, do respect the signs that tell you to stay back from the elk and to stay in your car in the buffalo area. It’s for your own safety.
